Caguas Sports

The baseball team, the Caguas Creoles is considered the best of all time in CaguasLatin America, having won 14 national titles and 11 titles of the Caribbean World Series, both of which are records. The team is a member of the League of Professional Baseball in Puerto Rico.

Three of the five Puerto Ricans who played in Major League Baseball in the United States played in the Caguas Criollos at some point in their careers (Luis Rodriguez Olmo, Victor Pellot Power, Roberto Clemente).
The basketball team Caguas, Creole, was founded in 1968 by Dr. Hector “Tato” and Davila, Esq. Libertarian Perez Rodriguez and have not enjoyed the same success that the local baseball team has.

Earlier this decade they showed much progress reaching national playoffs several times. The team is a member of the Liga de Baloncesto Superior de Puerto Rico, better known as Baloncesto Superior Nacional. In 2006 the team won its first national championship, defeating the Cangrejeros de Santurce in five games.
Caguas is Bairoa Gym, one of the most important boxing gyms in Puerto Rico and where many of the boxing champions have trained on the island, such as Miguel Cotto, his brother Jose Miguel, Alberto Mercado, Juan Carazo, Hector Camacho and Alfredo Escalera amongst others.
The municipal women’s volleyball team, the Caguas Creoles, has won 7 championships in the Female Superior Volleyball League, and has been runner up on more than a dozen occasions.
