Geography Climate Bayamon

The municipality of Bayamon has an elongated strip from north to south in the center of the western half of the northeast quadrant of the island.  Its extension is equivalent to 28.716 ropes 43.57 square miles. During the Puerto Rico1920s, Bayamon lost its sea access through the creation of the municipality of Catano.  The nearest point on the Atlantic Ocean is about a mile and half south of Bay Palo Seco.  The rivers in Bayamon include the Bayamon, Honda, Mini Bucarabones, La Plata and Uphill.

Climate
In Bayamon the climate is warm and humid.  Historical climatology of the area indicates that the average annual temperature is 76.6 degrees Fahrenheit.  The variation between the warmer months and colder is very mild. The highest monthly average temperature, 79.3 degrees Fahrenheit, happens during the months of August and September.  The lowest average, 72 degrees Fahrenheit, happens during February and March. Likewise, the diurnal variations are very mild.  The temperatures can drop to 60 ° F in winter and in summer reach 95 ° F; record temperatures are a low of 50 ° F and a high of 99 ° F.

The average annual rainfall is 77 inches.  The wet season starts in May and runs until December.  The dry season begins in January and runs until April.  The wettest months are July, August and September.  During each of these three months, the average rainfall is eight inches a month.  During the dry months it rains less than four inches per month.

Topography
Elevations in the Bayamon terrain vary from two meters above sea level in Barrio Juan Sanchez located in the coastal plain, up to 552 meters in the District Guaraguao (Cerro La Pena).  Similarly the land slope in the region varies from coastal plains to very steep mountains.  The topographical analysis revealed that the characteristics of the land vary considerably, which is the main reason why a soil analysis in Bayamon yields 17 groups with 21 different soil series.
